A 40-year-old man collapsed and died on the spot at Subin near Dunkwa in the Upper Denkyira East Municipality District of the Central Region during an Akpeteshie drinking challenge.
Kofi Hohoe aged 40 and Kojo Gameli aged 30 both residents of Subin according to police investigators who confirmed the incident, went to the drinking spot of Kojo Kontoh at Compound, a suburb of Subin and engaged each other in a local gin( akpeteshie) drinking competition
In the course of the drinking contest, Kofi Hohoe became unconscious whilst Kojo Gameli was also heavily drunk.
Both victims were rushed to Subin Health Center by the owner of the spot where they were admitted for treatment.
On the same day at about 7 pm, Kofi Hohoe died whiles receiving treatment at the Health Center but Kojo Gameli s is still on admission responding to treatment.
The body has since been inspected by the police who say there were no marks of violence found to suggest any foul play.
It has since been deposited at Dunkwa-on-Offin Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
