An Accra High Court presided over by Her Lordship Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe has dismissed an application to freeze the estate of the late Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie known popularly as Sir John.
It would be recalled that. the office of the Special Prosecutor directed that the estate of the late Forestry Commission boss should be frozen.
This was after it emerged that the late Forestry Commission boss had willed some protected state lands to his family forever.
But on July 12, 2022, an Accra High Court dismissed the application to freeze the estate of the late Forestry Commission boss.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Special Prosecutor has served notice that it will appeal the ruling at the court of Appeal.
According to the Office, dismissing their application will set a bad precedence for the future and will encourage public officers to grab state resources to their benefit.
It argues that if the ruling is made to stand, the Republic will lose in the fight against corruption.
