An abandoned toilet project under the $1million dollar per constituency, which began in 2017 at Fabi Dompoase at Asokwa in the Ashanti Region is now a haven for criminals.
The project which has been abandoned for 3 years, is now suffering some structural defects after being left to rot in the bush.
Although the roofed toilet is about 90 percent complete, the residents complained that failure of the government to complete the project is disappointing.
The Assembly Member for Fabi Dompoase electoral area Thomas Agyare in an interview with AMBASSADOR TV hosted by Osei Kwadaso and monitored by Ashantibiz said he has been compelled to brace the door of the abandoned toilet facility due to similar deviant activities which are festering on
According to him, the abandoned toilet facility has now become a ghetto for criminals and Wee smokers in the community.
“I highly disappointed in Nana Addo’s government and the Ministry of Special Development Initiative over their inability to complete the projects they started under 1 million dollars per constituency” the assembly member fumed.
“Several projects under the policy have been abandoned while others are rotting away in the bush. Why is it that our leaders feel happy to waste taxpayers ‘money without thinking that Ghana is struggling to get money for development” he asked.
“I have called the contractor on several occasions and he always gives me different excuses and he has stopped answering my calls because I have been giving him pressure to complete the abandoned toilet project” Thomas Agyare cried
He added “NPP and President Akufo-Addo promised Ghanaians 1 million dollars per constituency projects not abandoned projects and the situation is very disheartening. I will be forced to turn the abandoned toilet facility into a drinking spot to generate money for the assembly and development instead of allowing criminals and wee smokers to take over it” he added.
