Kumasi Cultural Centre, the biggest arts centre in West Africa, has began its 2021 annual Arts and Culture Exhibition and Bazaar (ACEB). The Bazaar is a one month regional event led by cultural professionals and educators. Every year the exhibition/bazaar is attended by approximately 1,000 patrons encompassing students, tourists, and visitors from around the world.
The event is a series of cultural festivals that provide Indigenous artists, artisans, exhibitors, cooperatives, and their representatives from the region the chance to sell their work directly to the Ghanaian public and foreigners in its entirety.
The exhibition features traditional and contemporary crafts, artwork, clothing, jewelry, home goods, and accessories from dozens of artists in the various districts and municipals in the Ashanti Region.
In addition, the bazaar offer tour of museum and other historical sections of the Centre, cultural performances and presentations, including live music and dance, energetic drumming, storytelling, craft-making demonstrations, and the unique chance to talk directly with makers and community advocates comprising historians, storytellers, poets, as well as Directorate and Management of the Centre for National Culture, Kumasi.
The event is also open to the general public. Children and young adults are welcome, as well as anyone with an interest in arts and culture and cultural and arts education.
The month-long event ends at the end of the month of August. Tourists, visitors and the general public are encouraged to pass through to appreciate made-in-Ghana goods. Besides, we shouldn’t forget to make a purchase of any of the beautifully crafted items exhibited or request for a cultural performance and storytelling.
