The project which was financed and executed by Goldkey properties, a Real Estate firm with support from TEAM CSR, a non- governmental organization, was to augment the government agenda to promote quality education in the country.
Correspondent Michael Teye Amartey reports that the Yilo Krobo State M/A Basic School which was formally called Krobo State College was established in 1938 by E. T Dada as a Private School and was later absorbed by the government.
Since then, the school has not seen any major rehabilitation.
According to the Head teacher of the school, David Kwadwo Ofosu the school normally closes early whenever it is about to rain due to the poor nature of the structure.
This, he said, has affected teaching and learning in the school causing the pupils to perform poorly in the Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE.
Furthermore, promises by some well- wishers including the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly yielded no result.
For now, the School Building was renovated via the initiative of Nanaa Awo Dede Otinor, the Suapo Manye of the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area who got support from the Goldkey Properties and TEAM CSR.
The Municipal Education Director, Mrs. Veronica Tetteh commended Goldkey Properties and TEAM CSR for the project and appealed for more of such projects.
The Project Manager at Goldkey properties, Mr. Alexander Dordor said the project is part of their ”corporate social responsibility to give back to society”.
Chief Executive Officer of TEAM CSR, Mr. Johnathan Akuamoah urged management and teachers of the school to take proper care of the facility to serve its purpose.
