Nana Adwoa Afranewaa III, known privately as Janet Adwoa Pinamang Adu, has been enstooled as the new Queen Mother (Hemaa) of Offinso, marking a significant development in the Offinso Traditional Area. This colorful enstoolment ceremony was graced by dignitaries including the Offinso Manhene, members of the Offinso Traditional Council, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the Asante Hemaa.
Before taking on her royal duties, Nana Adwoa Afranewaa was a notable businesswoman known for her entrepreneurial success and community engagement. As a daughter of the Offinso Royal Family, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role. Following her official unveiling to the Asantehene, she received royal blessings from the Asante Hemaa, solidifying her status as the revered Queen Mother of Offinso.
This momentous occasion comes after the destoolment of Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko, the former Queen Mother, who was removed due to gross insubordination. Her removal marked a historic moment as the first traditional leader to be destooled by the occupant of the Golden Stool in 2024. The stool had remained vacant since the demise of Nana Wiafe Akenten III on October 2, 2021, leading to a call for new leadership after the previous queen’s failure to nominate a qualified successor.
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II had earlier urged Offinsohene Nana Dwamena Akenteng II to find a new queen mother to support his reign. With the installation of Nana Adwoa Afranewaa III, the Offinso Traditional Area anticipates a new era of peace, progress, and prosperity.
The Offinso Royal Family and Traditional Council welcomed Nana Adwoa Afranewaa III with open arms, expressing confidence in her ability to foster community welfare. “We are delighted to have Nana Adwoa Afranewaa III as our new Queen Mother. Her experience and wisdom will undoubtedly benefit our traditional area,” stated Offinsohene Nana Dwamena Akenteng II.
The Asantehene’s decision to destool the previous queen emphasizes a commitment to upholding traditional values and discipline. As the new Queen Mother, Nana Adwoa Afranewaa III is expected to promote cultural heritage, support education and healthcare initiatives, foster economic development, and collaborate closely with the Offinsohene and Traditional Council. The community eagerly looks forward to her leadership in inspiring a brighter future for Offinso.
