Deputy General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Dr. Peter Boamah Otukunor has averred that the party will make him its General Secretary in the absence of his boss Johnson Asiedu Nketia if it is serious about power.
He prides himself on holding the key to winning power for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) so the party and its delegates should not give a listening ear to any individual.
Otukunor says he has over the years of serving the political party exhibited his qualities for all to see and therefore there is no one as fit as he is to win power for the NDC.
He made this known while speaking on Accra-based Metro Television.
Otukunor said “It’s not only about the contest, it is about 2024. You see, the party must win power in 2024 and not for the sake of the NDC but for the sake of the Ghanaian people.
He continued “I have said repeatedly that if it is power the NDC is looking for, then the NDC will go for competence, strong leadership, courageous leadership, strategic leadership, a leadership that is accessible, a leadership that can consolidate the party, a leadership that can unite the party and if these are the things that will win us power in 2024 the NDC cannot go beyond Dr. Peter Boamah Otukunor”.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is yet to open its nomination for people interested in contesting for National positions to express their interest and also pick forms to be voted for in the positions they have an interest in.
Already Asiedu Nketia has indicated that he will not be contesting for the party’s General Secretary position in the impending election because he is going for something bigger after serving for 17 years.
Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, Fiifi Kwetey and Dr. Peter Boamah Otukunor have expressed interest in leading the largest opposition political party as its General Secretary.
