Akufo-Addo has extended an invitation to Japanese investors.

  • Post category:Business

President Nana Akufo-Addo has welcomed Japanese investors to take advantage of the country‘s many potential and engage in the industrial sector.

As a result, Ghana will be able to realize its full potential as Africa’s regional manufacturing centre.

President Akufo-Addo made this clear when he opened the Japan External Trade Organization’s Accra office (JETRO).

The President praised JETRO’s decision to establish an African office in Accra, saying it demonstrates that Ghana is the top business location in Africa.

He stated that the government‘s top focus is industrialization, particularly in terms of tackling the difficulties of employment generation.

Despite the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, Alan Kyerematen, Minister of Trade and Industry, emphasized that the government has put in place programs aimed at luring trade and investors.

He asked the JETRO Accra office to promote Ghanaian products in Japan and to make Ghana the preferred investment destination for Japanese investors.

JETRO is a government-affiliated organization that promotes international trade and investment between Japan and other countries.

Since 2003, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) has sponsored over 15,000 corporate investment initiatives and assisted over 1,500 enterprises in successfully investing in Japan.

The Accra office is the result of a trade and investment meeting between the then-Prime Minister and President Akufo-Addo in 2018.

In Ghana and Japan, the JETRO office in Accra will concentrate on three pillars: trade and investment promotion, exhibits, and business delegation missions.

It will also focus on Research, Policy Proposal, and Advocacy in order to strengthen economic links between the two countries and contribute to the continuous growth of bilateral ties.

A Memorandum of Corporation Agreement was signed by the Ghanaian Ministry of Trade and Industry and JETRO to strengthen Ghana-Japan Economic Relations, Trade, and Investment.
