President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has met the “gallant” Black Stars team that qualified for the Qatar 2022 World Cup by eliminating Ghana’s arch-rivals, the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The Eagles were unable to fly to Qatar on Monday night and instead, the Black Stars shined in Abuja on their way to Mundial in November.
Ghana drew 1-1 with Nigeria after Thomas Partey fetched the first goal in the 10th minute.
Nigeria found the equaliser 12minutes later through a spot-kick.
After a goalless draw in Kumasi on Friday, Ghana qualified ahead of Nigeria on the away goal rule.
On their return to Accra Wednesday dawn having left Abuja a few hours after the qualification, President Akufo-Addo invited the team to the Jubilee House Wednesday afternoon.
