Political scientist Dr. Richard Amoako Baah is urging the National Executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to sit President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo down and counsel him over blunders he is making that affects the party.
Dr. Baah, a stalwart himself in the party is of the view talking to the President will make him realize and appreciate his ill-timed public utterances are hurting the fortunes of the NPP.
The political scientist request stems from the blunders Nana Addo has been making within the media space which has been considered by many as serious and disrespectful to electorates, groupings and or traditional authorities which these are directed.
Mention can be made of the President’s comments suggesting teachers can’t be millionaires during a protracted strike action declared by teachers.
Also, the president told a chief in Aflao to go fix an E block which was started under erstwhile John Dramani Mahama’s administration, when the chief gave the Nana Addo an ultimatum to complete it, this is after the chief was unhappy reptiles and weeds has taken over the block which was almost 80 % complete.
The latest being what is now known as the Kwabre vote response saga, where the President suggested he is unfazed with a no-development-no- vote threat by electorates there.
It is these Dr. Amoako believes the president needs some talking to while speaking on Ultimate 106.9 FM in Kumasi, monitored by ashantibiz.com
“When the people get upset with Nana Addo, they get upset with the NPP. He says I don’t care if you vote for me, why you would say that”.
“Of course you don’t care, you are not running but those behind you care and you should pave the way for them not speak like that to block their way. It is not good; this is a party’s job and I am sure the party executives should talk to the president. This will affect their fortunes and they should care”, he observed.
“The party has supported you and you can’t be doing things that will have a lasting impression on its members”
Dr. Amoako Baah wondered why the president has surrounded himself with a lot of people that have public image issues and are also inexperienced.
“Why has the president surrounded himself with persons who are engage in illegality, Wontumi is engaged in illegality, why allow him to sit by you”, he wondered.
“Yes the regional minister can sit by you but not wontumi and others who lack the experience to be around you”
“All this gives the president bad publicity”
“I don’t know who is advising the President”
