Accusations of internal sabotage are swirling around the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, just weeks after his appointment. Sources within the ruling NDC party have alleged a concerted effort by some prominent figures, business leaders, and even traditional leaders in the region to undermine his authority.
The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, claims these individuals believe Dr. Amoakohene lacks the experience and stature to effectively lead the Ashanti Region, Ghana’s second-largest and a crucial political battleground.
“They see him as a minor,” the source stated, suggesting a perception that the minister is not up to the task. This perceived inadequacy is reportedly fueling a campaign to discredit him and obstruct his efforts to implement government policy.
The allegations paint a picture of deep-seated factionalism within the NDC in the Ashanti Region. While the specifics of the alleged sabotage remain unclear, they reportedly involve undermining key initiatives and spreading misinformation through influential channels.
Political analysts suggest that a power struggle is likely at play, with established figures vying for influence and control in the region.
The claims come at a sensitive time for the government, which is keen to maintain stability and project an image of unity. The NDC will be particularly concerned about any internal strife that could weaken its position in a region that has historically been a stronghold for the opposition NPP.
Dr. Amoakohene has yet to publicly address the allegations. His office has been contacted for comment.
A stark warning was delivered by the source: “Beware: Saboteurs undermine you, Minister, now.”
