Bagbin and Asantehene discuss electoral peace and national issues

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, visited Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at his palace in Kumasi to discuss initiatives to support the electoral process and ensure peaceful, free, fair, and credible elections in December 2024.

The visit was also to celebrate Father’s Day with the Asantehene.

Speaker Bagbin presented his proposals on ensuring a seamless transition from the Eighth to the Ninth Parliament.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II pledged his total support and commitment to the initiative, assuring that he, along with other traditional leaders, would do everything legally possible to ensure peace before, during, and after the elections.

He called on parties, candidates, and other stakeholders to invest in educating the electorate about the electoral process and the importance of multiparty democracy.

The King further reiterated the Speaker’s proposal to have Parliament play an oversight responsibility on the executive.
