The flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party and Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has strongly criticized Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, accusing him of being a divisive figure responsible for undermining unity within the party.
Kennedy’s outburst aimed to portray the Vice President as the mastermind behind the recent internal conflicts within the party. It is important to note that Alan Kyerematen, a prominent contender for the flagbearership race, resigned, citing instances where his supporters were being targeted by influential figures within the party. Kennedy suggests that Dr. Bawumia is the sole individual orchestrating chaos behind the scenes.
During his campaign walk in Kumasi on September 30, 2023, Kennedy made a bold statement, urging supporters not to be intimidated. He advised them that if they are offered money to influence their vote, they should accept the money but refrain from voting for the candidate associated with the bribe.
The occasion witnessed thousands of party loyalists who are die-hard fans of Hon Kennedy Agyapong. He further urged the delegates to consider him as their leader by voting for him in the upcoming party elections on November 4.
