Ahead of the start of the elite league, some players of the Senior Women’s National Team (Black Queens) have called on Ghanaians to support the Malta Guinness (MG) Women’s Premier League.
The much anticipated 2023/24 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League starts on Saturday, November 4, across the league centres, and the likes of Janet Egyiri, Princella Adubea, Linda Eshun, and Konlan Cynthia called on Ghanaians to throng to the league centres to watch the games to help the league to continue to grow.
Eshun, formerly of Hasaacas Ladies recalled her days with the team, admitting that the Women’s Premier League has seen growth with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) providing the teams with boots, footballs, and a headline sponsor.
Talented Eshun said, “I’m here to tell you to keep supporting the Women’s Premier League. I’ve seen a lot of changes when I played for Hasaacas Ladies FC last season. There were so many changes, we saw the GFA providing football, bibs, cones, boots, and sponsorship and that’s good. And I believe there is more to come.”
Egyiri, another gallant defender who now plays for Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem FC pleaded with Ghanaians to support the Women’s league. “There have been a lot of changes in the past couple of years and I am here to encourage and plead with Ghanaians to come to the league centres to support the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.”
Prolific striker Adubea, and Konlan were not left out to call for fans and supporters unflinching support towards the development of women’s football in the country.
Twenty teams divided into Southern and Northern zones will begin their quest to win the 2023/24 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League.
Ampem Darkoa is the defending champions of the trophy after they defeated Hasaacas in the finals.
