A Former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi Kwasi Ofori Agyemang aka ZUBA, has called on residents in Ashanti Region, not to accept any ‘azar’ sod cutting project from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led government.
Mr. Agyemang was unhappy with the rate of neglect by the Nana Addo-led administration in the region seen as the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Reacting to recent press conferences and demands to do more in the Ashanti Region by the youth in the region, Mr. Agyemang questioned why the government keeps on taking the region for granted when Ashantis give ‘oxygen’ to the NPP in Ghana.
He is there for calling upon the youth to resist any fanciful sod cutting for any project in the region.
‘‘I know the President is coming to the region in September, for sod cutting for projects, we have to resist that. We don’t want any ‘azar’ projects here. They come and cut the sod and nothing happens to them; tell me I am lying’;
‘‘look around you, the signs are clear, you wait, now that there is all manner of pressure coming you will see the President running to the region to cut sod, it will end know where, we won’t accept it this time round’’ Zuba noted.
Since the NPP assumed the reins of power under the Presidency of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo, various youth groups have been crying for development in the region.
The youth groups have been basing their arguments on the fact that the NPP amassed over 1.7 million votes in Ashanti Region in 2020, which gave them victory in keenly contested elections.
This week, angry artisanal workers at the Suame Magazine, chased their MP over poor roads and lack of development.
