Farouk Aliu Mahama meets British High Commissioner; pitches her for development

  • Post category:Politics

Member of Parliament(MP) for the Yendi Constituency, Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, has pitched for the development of his constituency in a meeting with British High Commissioner, Harriet Thompson, in Yendi.

The Honourable Aliu Mahama, who hosted Her Excellency Harriet Thompson in Yendi last week, noted that even though his constituency has a lot of potential for rapid development, inadequate infrastructure remains a challenge. He therefore appealed to Harriet Thompson to use her good offices to help the Constituency overcome such challenges.

“We look forward to funding initiatives aimed at improving education infrastructure, empowering the vulnerable, and enhancing healthcare facilities. Support of a legacy library project from the United Kingdom will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the lives of our constituents, and we will incredibly be grateful for it,” Mr. Mahama told the Commissioner.

Reacting to the MP’s appeal for support, the High Commissioner expressed readiness to continue to collaborate with him towards the development of Yendi and the nation at large.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Honorable [Farouk Aliu Mahama] and to understand your developmental agenda for Yendi and the challenges, and to understand your people so that we can do our work better and have more impact on this part of the country as well as the rest of the country. And so we look forward to hearing much more from you about how we can work together and develop that relationship,” she assured.

Her Excellency Harriet Thompson, who was on a working visit to the Constituency, paid courtesy calls on the Overlord of Dagbon and visited some communities so as to ascertain the needs of the people and how the commission can support them.
