In his last news conference before the 2022 World Cup, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced Morocco will host the FIFA Club World Cup in 2023.
At its most recent meeting, the FIFA Council, according to Infantino, gave the North African nation approval to host the seven-team competition. Morocco will host the competition from February 1 until February 11.
After hosting the event in 2013 and 2014, Morocco will host the Club World Cup for the third time this year.
The event will include the champions of the premier club championship in each of the seven continents.
As the 2021/22 CAF Champions League champions, Wydad Club Athletic of Morocco will represent Africa.
Morocco made history in the World Cup by reaching the semifinal in Qatar 2022, and on Saturday they will play Croatia in the third-place playoff.
