A woman and her two daughters have been burnt to death at Nso Nyame Ye. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, February 1, 2023, when the house in which they were sleeping caught fire.
According to neighbours and eyewitnesses, the fire broke out at the family house at about 3 a.m.
The three-bedroom house is located at Nso Nyame Y3, a suburb of Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality in the Ashanti Region. Eye witness account has it that it took neighbours hours to fight the inferno before they were later joined by the Ghana National Fire Service.
But efforts were not enough to save a 28-year-old mother of two, Abigail Manu, and her children from succumbing to the fire. The two deceased daughters are Nora Yeboah, nine, and Philippa Yeboah, six years. Two other occupants of the house at the time of the fire outbreak escaped unhurt.
The house and all of its contents have been completely destroyed by the inferno.
Meanwhile, Personnel from the Abuakwa Police have conveyed the charred bodies of the three burnt victims to the morgue pending further investigations to unravel circumstances surrounding the fire.
A member of the Local Community Watchdog, Stephen Wundomoi, who spoke to the media about his account of the fire incident, said the situation is dire.
A team of Fire Service Personal from the Ashanti Regional Headquarters led by the Regional Commander, ACFO Giwa, has visited the scene to familiarize with the reality of the incident.
Interacting with journalists, ACFO Giwa sympathized with the bereaved family on their loss. He however repeated his advice to property owners to ”be safety conscious and not over concentrate on prevention using burglar proof against robbers”.
