Former Mayor of Tamale Confirms Intention To Contest as General Secretary of NPP

  • Post category:Politics

The immediate-past Metropolitan Chief Executive Officer of Tamale, Iddrisu Musah Superior has confirmed that he will put himself forward to be elected as General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party when nominations are opened for the party’s national executive elections which is scheduled for next year.

In an exclusive interview with the Voiceless Media, the former Mayor said he is well versed with the inner workings of the governing party and is also a grassroots man who is accessible and approachable and will no doubt excel in the role of a General Secretary when giving the nod.

The internet, a fortnight ago, was flooded with posters advertising Hon. Superior as candidate for the chief scribe’s position of the ruling party but with him tight-lipped about his intentions, the enthusiasm that greeted the posters soon died a natural death.

Mr. Musah Superior, who recently was appointed as deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Forestry Commission has now resurrected the enthusiasm after opening up about his intentions.

He told the Voiceless media, managed by his old friend, Chief Akilu Sayibu, that his decision to present himself for the position is part of his desire to continue to be of services to the NPP.

Hon. Musah Superior, who was the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Tamale Central constituency in election 2012 was also once a Campaign Aide to President Nana Addo in election 2016.

After the Party’s success in that election, the president appointed him to serve as Mayor of Tamale, a position he held until after the 2020 election when he decided for some reason not seek reappointment for that role. It must be stated that participation in national elections in the NPP is not new to Mr Musah Superior.

He contested for the position of National Organiser of the NPP in 2005 albeit unsuccessful.
