Four children raise $8,000 to support orphanage home

In a remarkable display of philanthropy, four children from the Opoku Sekyere family, a USA-based charity organization, have raised $8,000 through fundraising efforts to support the Patrick Duah Foundation, a charity home in Kona, Ashanti Region.

The funds aim to alleviate congestion at the home.

The children, Meredith Opoku-Sekyere (12), Chris Opoku-Sekyere (14), Gabe Opoku-Sekyere (9), and Janelle Opoku-Sekyere (7), were moved by an appeal from Rev. Patrick Kwaku Duah, the founder of the home, who called for public support to expand the accommodation facilities. Inspired by this call, the children decided to raise funds to contribute to the cause.

The Patrick Duah Foundation is constructing a 14-bedroom, two-story complex with two caretaker offices.

The project, expected to cost $30,000, aims to provide decent accommodations for orphans and underprivileged children at the home.

At a ceremony held at the project site in Kona, the Opoku Sekyere children donated an initial amount of $8,000 to ensure the project’s speedy commencement.

Meredith Opoku-Sekyere, speaking on behalf of her siblings, expressed that they were deeply touched by Rev. Patrick Duah’s appeal and decided to raise funds from family and friends in the USA to support the foundation.

Rev. Patrick Kwaku Duah, the founder of the Patrick Duah Foundation, expressed his gratitude to the Opoku Sekyere family for their generous contribution and pledged to complete the project soon.
