The dream that was once dismissed as a fleeting shadow has now become a pivotal moment in society. At the tender age of seven, Rosemond Naa Dedei found herself living in the slums of Korle-Gonno with her mother, who sold kenkey for a living. Despite her humble beginnings, Rosemond dared to dream of becoming a medical doctor.
Many doubted her, citing her impoverished background and financial struggles as insurmountable obstacles. Despite being a brilliant student, Rosemond felt compelled to join her mother’s kenkey business as her only option.
As she shared her harrowing experiences with students at Christian Methodist Senior High School, located at Block Factory off the Kasoa stretch, they listened in awe. Now, Dr. Rosemond Aboagye stands as the only pediatric radiologist in the country, a testament to her unwavering determination.
Reflecting on the hardships she endured, including surviving on seed yams meant for planting at her father’s home in Konongo, Ashanti Region, Dr. Aboagye’s journey is nothing short of remarkable. Today, she serves as a senior specialist at Ridge Hospital and is the CEO of Rand Medical Imaging and Health Systems.
Dr. Aboagye has made it her mission to inspire students in various senior high schools across the region with her incredible life story. From bathing without soap to going hungry, struggling to pay school fees, relying on classmates for books, and even sleeping in the dining hall, her journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and resilience.
