The Ghanaian gospel music scene is cloaked in deep sorrow as it prepares to say goodbye to its shining star, Kofi Owusu Dua Anto, known to many as KODA. Today, September 20, marks the solemn day family, friends, and countless fans will gather at the KICC Dominion Centre in Accra to pay tribute to a life that brought hope and inspiration through music.
Originally slated for July 5, KODA’s burial was postponed for five long months, adding to the heartache felt across the nation since the beloved artist’s untimely passing on April 21 at the age of 45. His departure has left a palpable void in the hearts of many, and today, they come together to honor his extraordinary legacy—a legacy etched into the very fabric of Ghanaian gospel music.
The funeral service will be a heartfelt gathering, allowing the bereaved and the admirers of KODA to reflect on the remarkable journey of a man whose songs have served as a beacon of light in turbulent times. From uplifting anthems like “Nsempii” and “Nkwa Abodoo” to the soul-stirring melodies of “Yapai” and “Adorso,” KODA’s music transcended boundaries, resonating deeply with audiences and reminding them of the power of faith, love, and resilience.
