A newly imported train from Poland has crashed during a test drive in the Asuogyaman District.
The incident occurred around 12:10 pm on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at approximately Km 76+100 of the Tema-Mpakadan railway line.
According to reports available to Ashantibiz, the Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train encountered a stationary vehicle across the rail track as it approached a curve.
Despite the immediate application of the emergency braking system, the train was unable to stop in time and collided with the vehicle. The extent of the damage and any injuries sustained are not yet known.
The train, which was imported from Poland as part of a railway expansion project, was undergoing testing prior to its scheduled inauguration. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
