Graduate unemployed nurses demonstrate in Kumasi

Members of the Graduate Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Association have resolved to stage protests at the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health, and Parliament to demand employment from the government.

The association comprises graduates from the 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 batches who completed their training in various health institutions across the country.

Despite numerous petitions and demonstrations in the past, members of the association remain unemployed due to a lack of financial clearance from the government.

Although the association claims to represent around 75,000 members, only a fraction could participate in the demonstration held in Kumasi on Monday, citing financial constraints.

Ibrahim Haruna, the National President of the Association, expressed dismay over the government’s inaction, emphasizing the financial burden their unemployment places on their families.

He urged the government to prioritise their employment, enabling them to support their families and contribute to national development.
