Inspiring the next generation: Dr. Aboagye’s story shared at Senya SHS

Dr. Rosemond Aboagye, the Executive Director of Rand Medical Imaging and Health Systems and a Senior Pediatric Radiologist at Ridge Hospital, found herself at Senya Senior High School in the Awutu Senya East Municipal District on Friday, 23rd, 2024 to share her life experiences with the students.

As she began her story, the students listened intently as she revealed that she was the eldest of five siblings and the first medical doctor in her family. Growing up in the slums of Korle-Gonno in Accra, she refused to let the circumstances of poverty hold her back from achieving her dreams.

Dr. Aboagye recounted how she would support her mother in her kenkey business, all the while dreaming of becoming a doctor. Despite facing challenges and naysayers along the way, she persevered and never gave up on her dream.

The students were captivated as she shared anecdotes of her time in school, from being kicked out for not paying fees to borrowing money for transportation. She even confessed to eating seed yams meant for planting during a particularly tough time at her father’s place in Konongo.

Through it all, her determination never wavered. She inspired the students with her resilience and never-say-die attitude, showing them that with hard work and perseverance, anything is possible.

As the school authorities expressed their gratitude for Dr. Aboagye’s visit, they called for more experienced individuals to share their life experiences with the younger generation.
