In a tragic turn of events, the renowned actor-turned-politician, John Dumelo, has been struck by a deeply personal loss as he mourns the passing of his beloved mother. As a prominent figure in both the entertainment industry and the political realm, Dumelo’s grief resonates with his countless fans and supporters, leaving them curious about how this profound loss might affect his future endeavours.
The multidimensional actor said on Facebook that his mother, Mrs. Antoinette Ama Ampomah Dumelo, passed away on Tuesday, August 15.
The late Mrs Ampomah Dumelo turned 71 in January 2023.
“My heart is broken. My dear mother passed away yesterday…my number one supporter. Heaven has gained an angel,” Dumelo wrote on his Facebook page.
Dumelo was recently endorsed by the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to contest the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency in the 2024 general elections.
The party in a statement signed by the constituency chairman, Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey disclosed that the other two aspirants in the race agreed to step down to allow Mr Dumelo to represent the NDC in next year’s elections.
One of the aspirants, Fred Nuamah withdrew from the race on August 8 and pledged his unflinching support for Mr. Dumelo.
The party also called on the general public and supporters of the NDC to rally behind Mr Dumelo to snatch the seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 polls.
