Apart from enforcing the laws of the land, protecting lives and property has been the core responsibility of the police. This, however, cannot be achieved if there is a deliberate attempt to frustrate players within the field and a lack of basic logistics.
One of the fastest-growing communities lacking such basic amenities within the Kumasi metropolis is the Afrancho Police Station. A scene that occasioned further investigation over the weekend revealed to Ashantibiz that there is no effort by stakeholders within the community to safeguard their safety.
Ashantibiz witnessed a scene on July 1st right in front of the Police station that needed a swift response. But with the help of a civilian motorbike that was available during a nasty reckless driving within the premises of the police station, the police wouldn’t have been able to execute its core duty by chasing a suspect whose reckless driving caused harm to a civilian.
Our further investigations revealed that there is no petrol van, no motorbike or adequate men to provide security for the people of Afrancho. Stakeholders and concerned individuals are called upon to help build a strong safety net for the Afrancho Police Station by providing them with motorbikes, and petrol vans to provide adequate security for its citizenry.
