Mahama urges Ghanaians to register to vote change

  • Post category:National

Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on eligible Ghanaians to participate in a critical voter registration exercise aimed at reshaping the nation’s future. In a passionate appeal shared via social media, Mahama emphasized that registering to vote is not merely a civic duty but a vital first step towards securing well-paying jobs and enabling meaningful change in the country.

As Ghana embarks on a three-day mop-up voter registration exercise organized by the Electoral Commission, which began on August 1 and ends on August 3, Mahama encourages all eligible voters, especially those who are 18 years old, to seize this opportunity. “Welcome to a new month, my fellow Ghanaians, brothers and sisters. The time to reset our dear country is getting close. I urge all eligible voters yet to register with the Electoral Commission of Ghana to #RegisterforChange,” Mahama stated.

Highlighting the importance of this exercise, Mahama expressed his belief that citizen participation in the electoral process is crucial for defeating the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) and ushering in a governance model that promises prosperity and integrity. “Remember, your vote is not just a right; it’s power—the power to change this non-performing and unrepentantly corrupt NPP government,” he stated.

The NDC leader expressed confidence that Ghanaians will rally to reclaim their country’s direction. He assured voters that a victory for the NDC in the upcoming December 7 elections would facilitate the implementation of comprehensive economic reforms under his leadership. Mahama outlined a vision that includes the establishment of a 24-hour economy initiative, which he argues will create decent and well-paying jobs for Ghanaians.

In addition to economic reforms, Mahama promised to promote gender equality and enhance educational programs, particularly the free senior high school (SHS) initiative. He vowed to engage in a relentless fight against injustice and corruption if re-elected. Mahama emphasized his commitment to building a Ghana that prioritizes the aspirations and welfare of all citizens, stating, “With Naana Jane and I in the Flagstaff House from January 07, 2025, you can be assured of a better future.”

As the deadline for voter registration approaches, the NDC is mobilizing its grassroots supporters while encouraging young voters to be active participants in the electoral process. Mahama’s call to action is part of a broader strategy to galvanize support and create a sense of urgency around the upcoming elections, aiming to inspire confidence in a government that prioritizes economic growth, social equity, and political accountability.

The response from the electorate remains to be seen as Ghanaians prepare to make their voices heard in the forthcoming elections, but Mahama’s message resonates with many who seek change and a better future for the nation.
