Mob Justice the highest form of injustice – GBA President warns

The citizenry is being urged to desist from taking the law into their own hands to administer justice to accused persons without recourse to the law.

Ashanti Regional President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Kwame Owusu Sekyere, Esq. has therefore condemned mob justice’ which he described as the highest form of injustice.

‘When citizens take the law into their own hands and in particular administer ‘mob justice’, justice that is not in accordance with the laid down rules, it is the highest form of injustice’, he pointed out during the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the murder of three High Court Judges under Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC).

‘We must condemn in no uncertain terms persons whether under the cloak of youth groups, vigilantes, security officers, police or military who threatens to or take the law into their own hands and attack persons no matter the cause’.

‘Democracy is premised on the Rule of Law and lawyers are critical in any effort to have these respected, defended and applied it in the practical endeavor of administering justice’, Lawyer Kwame Owusu Sekyere pointed out.
