A total of 3,017 candidates in the Kwadaso Municipality are taking part in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) which is currently going on in the country.

Out of the total candidates, 1,537 representing 51 per cent are females while 1,480 representing 49 per cent are males.

In all, candidates from 64 basic schools made up of 23 public and 41 private schools are writing the exams.

Mrs Grace Ofosu-Boateng, Kwadaso Municipal Director of Education, made this known to the media in Kumasi after paying a working visit to some of the examination centres in the Municipality.

Centres visited were Yaa Asantewaa Senior High School (SHS), Prempeh SHS, Tanoso Anglican Basic School, Prempeh Basic School and Kwadaso Beposo Basic School.

She said the visit was to monitor the progress of the examination and give words of encouragement to the candidates.

Mrs Ofosu-Boateng urged the candidates to report to the examination centres on time and also eschew all forms of examination malpractices.

She said the Directorate expected the BECE results to be better this year despite the long COVID-19 break.

Mrs Ofosu-Boateng urged the candidates to remain calm and not panic.

She reminded them to read through their questions thoroughly and ensure they provide accurate answers, adding that they should go by the rules and regulations governing the examination.

She wished them the best of luck and asked God’s protection and guidance for them throughout the examination period.

The Director appealed to the candidates, supervisors, and invigilators to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols in all the centres.
