Pedestrian knock downs and reckless driving is becoming a concern for motorists and residents who use the Durban new road within the Nhyiaeso constituency in the Ashanti Region.

This is as a result, the newly constructed road that spans several kilometres from the popular Atinga Junction through to the old Darban Township has no road markings after its completion almost two years ago and street light.

This has made driving very difficult especially in the night resulting in some avoidable accidents.

Several cries to community leaders to get the situation rectified has fallen on deaf ears some residents told Ashantibiz.

A visit to the road confirmed the complaints of the residents as work could be seen been done on portions of the road but not the main issues of road markings and street lighting.

The residents say until the situation is resolved pedestrian knock down will continue.

“The road was bad and we complained for it to be fixed, now that it’s fixed, the contractor has not created the needed markings on the road the guide motorist. There are always accidents here that can be avoided” one resident said.

Another in an interaction with wondered why a new road will be fixed with street lights.

“I don’t understand why, a road as important as this that can ease traffic in the community has no street light. You come and drive here at night it’s terrible. It’s always a struggle to cross from one end to the other; this is a double road on each side”
