The long-standing conflict over the rightful ownership of the Kyirapatere Stool seems to have finally reached a resolution at the Manhyia Palace. This development comes as a welcome surprise, considering the seemingly endless nature of the dispute.
For several years, the Owiredu Komfuo Stool has remained unoccupied, with no suitable candidate to assume the position. The Queenmother of Kyirapatere made numerous attempts to introduce an heir to the throne, only to be met with rejection from the Head of Clan (Abusuapanyin). The Abusuapanyin argued that the nominee had previously disrespected and spoken ill of the throne, referring to it as a useless stool. This disrespectful behavior towards the gods and the tarnishing of the stool’s reputation were cited as reasons for the rejection.
After years of deliberation at the Manhyia Palace, the matter has finally been resolved. Otumfuo, the Asantehene, played a crucial role in settling the dispute. He advised the Abusuapanyin to allow the nominee to ascend the throne and coexist peacefully with the community. This decision brings an end to the protracted conflict between the rival factions within the Kyirapatere royal family.
A video obtained by Ashantibiz confirms the finality of this resolution, capturing the moment when the disputing royals put their differences aside. This significant development marks a new chapter for Kyirapatere, a town located within the Asokwa Constituency in Kumasi. Notably, Kyirapatere is home to the Ashanti Regional Fire Service Headquarters, Kumasi South Government Hospital, and the now-defunct Kumasi Shoe Factory.
The resolution of this conflict not only brings peace to Kyirapatere but also serves as a testament to the effectiveness of the Manhyia Palace in resolving complex disputes.
