A former Ghana’s Ambassador to South Africa Dr. Ayisi Boateng is advocating for the sack of the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service(GES) Prof Opoku Amankwah.
There were reports that the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service had given an indication that government is reviewing the much touted free SHS to ensure that students who need the support most are catered for.
However, the Education Ministry through its Public Relations unit denied the claims indicating that the GES Director General was just making an analogy in his submission on Free SHS.
But speaking in an interview on Accra-based OKAY FM, Dr. Ayisi Boateng indicated that the President needs to ask the Director General for the Ghana Education Service.
He says people are put in positions of trust to be able to solve problems and not complain about the problems.
Dr. Ayisi said there is a need for the GES Boss to rather focus on ensuring the success of the scheme rather than suggesting there is supposed to be a review.
“You’ve been given such a position with all the courtesies and privileges and when there are problems you can’t sit with leadership to solve them but you call for a review?
Masa don’t be a hypocrite. You work for Despite Group of companies and you need to work at ensuring that the show is topnotch. A whole Director General of GES when there are problems at the schools don’t you need to address them? President Akufo-Addo should sack him because he is not a team player. We are past that stage where we will sit aloof and watch people. Any individual who is not performing should be booted out because we have the men and women.”
